The challenge we faced was clear: How do we encourage young women who are already interested in STEM to pursue careers in heavy industry, when so many signals suggest it’s not a place for them? Heavy industry has long been seen as male-dominated, with few female role models and environments that often don’t feel inclusive. The common perception is that “it’s not a place for women.” Our initiative, Break the Mould, set out to change these perceptions and inspire young women to consider careers in heavy industry- not just by inviting them in, but by actively showing them they belong. s part of this effort, EGA updated all their safety signs to be gender-inclusive, addressing both men and women in English and Arabic. We redesigned icons to represent women as well as men, making inclusivity visible at every level. To further demonstrate that women are not alone in this field, we highlighted the stories of pioneering women across the industry—the true heavy lifters- from EGA, STRATA, AD Ports, and TAQA. These leading companies came together with a shared goal: to break stereotypes and open doors for the next generation. We also visited universities, spoke directly with students, and held workshops to explore career opportunities in heavy industry. To bring our campaign to life, we designed a mural that captured its spirit- an artwork that resonated with everyone involved.
